AN UNFAIR ADVANTAGE

The Woo J. Hwang advantage:

We can't beat every single translation agency in the world in every single niche. However, we can beat even the billion dollar a year companies by being the absolute best in the world in a very small, specific, and rare language pair: Korean to English and English to Korean.

We are a botique company specializing in Korean <-> English translations only. Absolutely ALL translations are either performed by, reviewed by and/or approved by the owner Woo J. Hwang, who is a native speaker in Korean and English with no accent in both languages:

  • Born to Korean Parents
  • Attended Kindergarten to 3rd grade in the American School of Warsaw: causing him to have no accent in English
  • 3rd grad to 8th grade in Seoul, South Korea, perfecting his Korean under South Korea's rigorous academic standards
  • Age 13 to 28 in the United States, working for 5+ years as a paralegal, perfecting spoken and written English
  • Thereafter 5+ years as a translator
  • Happy to get on a call to prove no accent in both languages

Our Early Successes

Company Size

One Translator, Two Supporting Employees

While we are a tiny operation as of today, we would like to share with you our early successes thus far since starting in the translation industry:

  • Won a 50+ to 1 bid to become the sole and only translator of the programming book "Dive Into Design Patterns" by Alexander Shvets
  • Built strategic alliances with major translation agencies to help them fullfill translations in the Korean <-> English language pair.
  • Scored 100 TQI (Translation Quality Index) on an Alconost.com paid test in November 18, 2025.
  • Over 40,000 USD earned with one translation agency in a 6 month timespan.
  • Top Rated Plus on UpWork as a translator with perfect 100% 5 star reviews for translation tasks.
  • As of January of 2026, finalizing negotiations for translating 9 academic books, 300-600 pages each, involving topics like Physics, Chemistry, Economics and Biology between Feb and August of 2026.

Case Study: Dive into Design Patterns

In 2022, Woo Hwang was selected as the sole translator for the official Korean edition of “Dive Into Design Patterns” by Alexander Shvets. This was a highly technical programming architecture book filled with difficult to grasp code structuring concepts, detailed diagrams, and highly technical jargon. Out of 80+ qualified applicants, the author chose Woo for his rare native fluency in both Korean and English (no accent in either) and his proven ability to handle intricate technical content with absolute precision. This project marked the beginning of his long-term collaboration with Alconost, who was selected to be the editor of the book, and remains a proud case study to present for academic-style technical translations.

  • Translated the entire book single-handedly, ensuring perfect consistency in terminology, code snippets, and visual explanations across hundreds of pages.
  • Delivered publication-ready Korean text that preserved the original’s clarity and educational intent while sounding completely natural to native readers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on large-scale, high-stakes technical projects with zero quality complaints.

Serious Question:

Why risk your translation budget?

Are your global campaigns converting poorly because the messaging lands flat? Or are you planning on launching a product, course or service and are worried that translation quality might be poor, basically squandering your dreams and throwing your translation budget into the sewer?

Hire the lead translator who has written dozens of legal briefs for lawyers in English, received training in copywriting and has also translated an entire digital marketing course for Udacity.

While we believe in free market competition, we worry for you because most Korean people are really bad at English, and most non Korean people never master Korean to native fluency. Even a typical Indian middle school student speaks way better English than a typical Korean college student. If you hire one of these Koreans to translate your matter, they can really mess up the job - we have seen first hand a client lose $20,000 in bad translations, having to do his translations all over again with an agency Woo was collaborating with. If you go with another translator or company, make sure you do your due dilligence. If you are considering us, we can help you do your due dilligence about Woo, just email us.

The entire company specializes in the Korean <-> English language pair only. We oftentimes turn down translations in niches that we have a less of a preference for. The company is a sole proprietorship, built around Woo Hwang, a native fluent linguist in both languages specializing in high precision translations. With a larger agency, you risk being assigned any random Korean translator. Here, you always know that Woo Hwang will guarantee that your matter will be translated perfectly.
